- Mechanical compression and irritation of the soft tissues in the suprahumeral space
- Classified as :-
- Primary: Result of an abnormal mechanical relationship between the rotator cuff and the coracoacromial arch during elevation of humerus
- Secondary: “Relative Narrowing” of the subacromial space (poor posture, rotator cuff muscle weakness, instability,etc)
- Stages :-
- Stage 1: Edema and Inflammation
- Stage 2: Fibrosis and Tendinitis
- Stage 3: Bone Spurs and Tendon Ruptures
- Symptom :-
- Pain with overhead reaching
- Feel shoulder weakness
- Only certain angle can feel the pain (painful arch)
- Unable to sleep on affected side
