Plantar Fasciitis

 

  • Inflammation of the plantar fasciaheel spur
  • Chronic stress may cause calcium to deposit, forming a spur on the calcaneus
  • Occurs in patients :-
    • > 40 years old
    • Active sportsmen may be in his twenties
    • Prolonged standing or walking
  • Caused by :-
    • Excessive loading of the footplantar facities
    • Prolonged duration of pronation
  • Symptoms :-
    • Increase pain while climbing stairs, walking or running
    • Pain at the first step getting out of the bed in the morning
    • Relieved by rest
    • Tenderness at the plantar fascial attachment of the calcaneus, in the medial arch area and in the abductor hallucis muscle
